Some KV Residents Affected by Unplanned Water Outage
September 28, 2021
Canyon Loop at Toho Trail
One of the main water transmission lines on Canyon Loop requires an emergency repair this morning. This has caused an outage for a number of residents near the top of Canyon Loop where it connects to Toho Trail. Water service will be restored to all affected customers as soon as possible. We expect the repair to be completed sometime this afternoon.
It can be the case with a main break that excessive flows may cause some customers in the southern areas of Kachina Village (Canyon Loop, Kachina Trail, and Toho areas) to experience water qualities issues caused by sediment being stirred up in the lines.
When exposed to incidents of increased flows, some of the older areas of our water system have an issue where the sediment in the lines gets stirred up and causes water quality issues with our end users. If you notice issues with your water quality, we typically find that a quick flush of your lines will provide an immediate improvement with the water returning to its normal quality over the next 24 hours.
While we certainly understand that water quality issues are an important concern for our customers, be assured that there are not health risk associated with the additional sediment in the water.
If you have continued issues, don’t see an improvement after flushing your lines, or have other questions or concerns please feel free to contact our offices for further assistance at (928) 525-1775, or email me at smossman@kachinawater.com.
Thank you for your understanding.
